Armed robber storms Tesco wearing Personal Protective Equipment

An armed robber has stormed a Tesco Express wearing a medical face mask and gloves.

The suspect threatened workers with a silver handgun and grabbed money before running out of the store in Shoreham, West Sussex, on 15 May.

CCTV of the incident showed a man walking towards the doors of the supermarket at around 6.30am.

He could be seen wearing a white surgical face mask, a woolly hat and with his right arm was tucked inside a large green jacket.

The suspect then ordered a female Tesco worker to go behind the till and take money from the register.

As she emptied the till the robber pointed his weapon at her and he could be seen wearing blue medical gloves.

Two men, aged 30 and 38, from Shoreham, were both arrested on suspicion of robbery and have been released on bail until June 12, Sussex Police said.

But detectives are appealing for information in identifying the man seen in the footage.

Detective Sergeant Andy Ricks said: "This was a terrifying incident and we are seeking the public's help in identifying the man in the CCTV.

"I am hoping that someone may recognise the distinctive beanie hat or the green jacket worn by the suspect.

"If you can help us in any way with our enquiries, please report online or call 101 quoting Operation Stafford."
