After what feels like an eternity, the Justice League are finally getting their own live-action movie tomorrow (November 17).

But things could have gone very differently had Warner Bros' plans to make Justice League Mortal in the late noughties gone ahead.

Set to be directed by Mad Max: Fury Road's George Miller, the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne would have been played by a then-unknown Armie Hammer.

In a lengthy chat with Vulture, Hammer said that the role was one he had to audition for or else get fired by his agent at the age of 19.

And it was him being that age that makes him glad that the project never happened.

"I used to be upset we didn't get to do it, but everything happens exactly as it's supposed to," he said.

"For a long time, I was like, 'How great that could have been!'.

"As a 31-year-old who's been through a lot since I was 19, I wouldn't want to watch a 19-year-old Batman.

"I'd be like, 'Who's this spoiled rich kid who wants to play dress-up?'.

"I know that I wouldn't have turned in a great performance, or even a good performance - it would have just been whatever."

He's got a fair point, having a young Dark Knight might not have been what audiences wanted to see, especially off the back of Christian Bale.

No matter what you think of the DCEU, Ben Affleck's older Bats makes a lot of sense.

Armie Hammer chatted to Digital Spy back in the day about the iconic character, and whether or not he was better than his frenemy Superman.

Justice League is out in cinemas tomorrow.
