Armie Hammer's mum claims her son was 'morally but not criminally wrong'

Armie Hammer's mum has spoken for the first time about the abuse allegations surrounding her son.

The actor was accused of cannibalism and sexual abuse in 2021.

"I was very careful during the whole ordeal because my own son didn't come out and defend himself," Dru Hammer told TMZ.

"I had a pastor at the time who said if you come to your own defence, it's the only defence you're ever gonna have, so we believe that God is our defence and now the truth is coming out."

She added, "He was not criminally wrong, he was morally wrong but it's changed his life forever and he's sober and he's happier than he's ever been. And coming back to God and that's the most important thing to me."

She is about to release a book where she talks in detail about the scandal. She told how Armie signed off on it with no edits. "He said: 'I wouldn't change anything, I'm really proud of you mom.'"

The 37-year-old has also recently spoken about the accusations, that ended his career.

Despite sending texts that reportedly said he was "100% a cannibal," in 2021, he said on the Painful Lessons podcast, "People called me a cannibal. Like I ate people! What???? You know what you have to do to be a cannibal? You have to eat people!'"

He continued, "I'm actually now at a place where I'm really grateful for it because where I was in my life before all of that stuff happened to me I didn't feel good I never felt satisfied I never had enough I never was in a place where I was happy with myself where I had self-esteem."
