Arne Slot can break three Liverpool records during Manchester United fixture
Arne Slot can break several records when Liverpool travel to face Manchester United today. The Reds make the trip to Old Trafford to take on their bitter rivals in their next Premier League fixture.
Liverpool go into the match on the back of convincing wins over Ipswich Town and Brentford last month. Victory over Man United would see the Reds maintain a 100 per cent start to the campaign and join Manchester City as the only other club to begin the season with three wins in a row.
The fixture also means more than just the three points that are on offer, but this time there is more at stake for Liverpool and for Slot in particular. The Reds head coach has the opportunity to break three records should the result go in Liverpool's favour at Old Trafford.
Should Liverpool beat their rivals on Sunday, it would be the first time since 1975 that a Reds boss has won their first match against Man United after taking charge. The last manager to do so for Liverpool was Bob Paisley after he replaced Bill Shankly.
Another record up for grabs would be for Slot to be the first Liverpool boss in nearly 90 years to claim a victory on their first trip to Old Trafford. The last Reds manager to do this was George Kay back in 1936 after he guided Liverpool to a 5-2 victory 88 years ago.
The last record up for grabs would be if Liverpool were to keep a clean sheet against Man United. If this were to happen, Slot would be the first manager in the Reds' 131-year history to not concede a goal in his first three fixtures in charge.
Liverpool kept clean sheets in each of the 2-0 wins over Ipswich and Brentford, respectively, and will be hoping to do so again against Man United. A win would also see the Reds move five points clear of their bitter rivals just three matches into the season.
