Liverpool are once again being linked with a move for Crystal Palace star Michael Olise.

Olise's future has been the subject of speculation in recent months. The Palace star was close to joining Chelsea last summer when his £35 million release clause was activated before he signed a new contract to remain at Selhurst Park.

Nearly 12 months later Olise is being linked with a move away from Palace once again. This time Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal have all been mentioned in a report in ESPN as competing with Liverpool for Olise's signature.

The report claims that Man United are leading the race to sign Olise. However, it has been stated Liverpool may look to bring the Palace star to Anfield in the event that Mohamed Salah leaves the club amid reported interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Should Liverpool move to sign Olise then it would present yet another talented forward option for Arne Slot in his first season as head coach. Slot is officially in his first days as Jurgen Klopp's successor and will be spending the next few weeks assessing his squad ahead of the new season.

Liverpool already have Salah, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo, and Luis Diaz as their forward options. Olise typically plays on the right wing for Palace, which would indicate that he could provide competition for Salah in the Reds squad.

While he was at his previous club Reading, though, he was also used as an attacking midfielder while also appearing occasionally on the left wing meaning he would add a versatile option for Arne Slot. That could see the Reds rotate their forward options, adding valuable opportunities to rest players such as Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai - particularly given the return of Champions League football to Anfield next season.

However, it seems unlikely Olise would become a first choice member of the starting XI ahead of either player right away should Liverpool sign him. Diaz has been heavily linked with a move away from Liverpool in recent weeks. Barcelona have been credited with an interest in the Colombia international, who is contracted at Anfield until 2027.

Should Diaz depart then the likelihood of Liverpool going into the market for a new forward is only likely to increase. Whether that will mean Olise becomes a genuine target remains to be seen, given he and Diaz generally operate on opposite wings.

Regardless, the signing of Olise would certainly add valuable forward resources to Slot for his first campaign.
