There is only a couple days left of the year, so Londoners are sure to be busy making plans for New Year’s Eve.

This year, December 31 falls on a Saturday, which means there’s no excuse not to venture out into the capital to bring in 2023.

But once the clock hits midnight and the festivities die down, revellers across the city will be wondering: how do I get home?

Thankfully, the party won’t have to stop in time for the last tube train, as most Transport for London (TfL) services will be running on New Year’s Eve.

However, unlike in the past, TfL will not offer free travel this New Year’s Eve.

Here’s our guide to the transport options available:

Bus

During the day, buses will run with a Saturday service on all-day routes. There will also be a Saturday service all night, as well as 24-hour routes running.

Some buses will even have buses more frequently, and a small number of additional day routes will run overnight.

There will be a special service on New Year’s Eve and services will run all night.

However, there will be no Waterloo & City line service and no District line service to Kensington Olympia.

Elizabeth line

During the day, there will be a reduced service between Paddington-Reading/Heathrow, and Paddington-Abbey Wood. There will be no service between Whitechapel-Shenfield.

In the evening, there will be special night services between Abbey Wood and Reading. However, trains will not run on Acton Main Line, West Ealing, Hanwell, Burnham and Taplow, or to/from Heathrow.
