Arrest after town centre brawl leaves man in hospital

Police have arrested a 26-year-old after a town centre brawl left a man in hospital. Officers were scrambled to Tunstall following reports 'a group of men were attacking another man'.

As reported by StokeonTrentLive cops were spotted in the Tower Square area yesterday evening while paramedics treated a patient for 'serious injuries'. The alarm had been raised at around 6.55pm with locals claiming to have spotted 'police everywhere'.

Now the force has confirmed a 26-year-old man is in custody following the disorder. A spokeswoman said: "We were called to reports that a group of men were attacking another man.

"A 26-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of affray and remains in custody. Another man was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment of a head injury."

An ambulance service spokesman said: "We were called to reports of an assault near the junction of High Street and Tower Square. One ambulance attended the scene. On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was treated for potentially serious injuries before being taken to hospital."
