Arrests as car flips after 'reversing into police' on Stoke-on-Trent cul-de-sac
Police have made two arrests after a car ended up on its roof on a city cul-de-sac. A lock knife was also retrieved after a scene of destruction was left on Northcote Avenue, in Stoke.
StokeonTrentLive reported yesterday how marked and unmarked police cars had lined Hartshill Road with paramedics also at the scene. Today and Staffordshire Police have said the car, a Renault Scenic, had started reversing before smashing into a police car - and ending up on its roof.
Following the afternoon incident one of the vehicle's occupants had tried to run off. Now two suspects, aged 37 and 17, of Manchester, are both being quizzed in custody.

Staffordshire Police say officers began to follow the Renault at around 1.30pm after concerns it was on false plates.
A spokesman said: "When the car got onto Northcote Avenue, it came to a stop and then started reversing. The car then collided with the police car. None of the officers were injured. The Renault ended up on its roof and both cars were extensively damaged. One person from inside the car ran away but was quickly found. The two others were stopped for a search, where a lock knife was found."
A 37-year-old man, from Manchester, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, assault with intent to resist arrest, and criminal damage. The 17-year-old boy, also from Manchester, was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft. A man in his 30s was originally arrested but was later de-arrested. The spokesman added: "Both remain in custody while enquiries continue."
Yesterday West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed it had sent two ambulances and a paramedic officer to the scene and treated three patients - with one going to the Royal Stoke University Hospital with 'injuries not believed to be serious'.
The force is continuing to appeal for witnesses. The police spokesman said: "Anyone who saw what happened or those with CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage from the area at the time are asked to get in touch."
Witnesses should call the police on 101 and quote incident number 294 of October 17 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
