Arrests After Man Shot In Stomach In Suffolk

Three people are being held on suspicion of conspiracy to murder after a man was shot in the stomach in Suffolk.

Officers were called to an address in Bury St Edmunds at 6.45pm on Tuesday after reports that a man had received gunshot wounds.

They went to the property, in Forum Court, off Station Hill, and found an injured man who was then taken to hospital.

Police cordoned off Station Hill and armed officers, a police helicopter and dogs units were sent to the scene.

Officers arrested three people in the early hours of Wednesday.

Reports said the injured man ran into the centre of the complex of flats shouting for help and saying he had been shot.

An unnamed resident told the Bury Free Press: "I heard someone shouting 'help, help', but I didn't know if they were messing around.

"I looked out of the window and could see a man begging for an ambulance because he said he had been shot.

"His whole face and leg was covered in blood and so was his hands."

A 58-year-old man and two women aged 59 and 28, all from Needham Market, are being questioned.

More than a dozen emergency service vehicles are said to have been called to the scene and the air ambulance was also scrambled.

The victim remains in hospital where he is in a stable condition.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact the major investigation team on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
