Internet trolls have found a new target in Stephen Amell, and he hasn't taken it lying down.

The Arrow star recently posted a picture on the social media service showing him playing baseball with his cousin Robbie Amell, and thanks to the long-lens camera it seemed to show him without his usual six-pack.

That of course gave the body-shaming trolls a reason to have a go, but he's responded in the best way.

"So I take two months off after working non stop from July 2014 through April 2017... one photo shows up on the internet," he wrote.

"And people take to my timeline to poke fun at my stomach from a long lens photo. Who the sweet (expletive) do you think you're tweeting at?!"

He continued: "For the record, I could step into the GA suit today & kick more ass then I did on Ninja Warrior. So take your shitty tweets elsewhere."

Talking of Ninja Warrior, the star tackled the tough obstacle course for Red Nose Day US and naturally smashed it, so we wouldn't want to challenge him there.

He raised an impressive $35,000 to help stop child poverty, with $5,000 banked for each obstacle passed.

Parenthood's Erika Christensen successfully managed five obstacles and American Pie's Mena Suvari made it to the Warped Wall, while Derek Hough, Olympian Ashton Eaton, baseball player Nick Swisher and comedian Nikki Glaser also took part.

Arrow returns to The CW in the US and Sky 1 in the UK later this year.
