Arrow star teases "beautiful exit" in season 6 finale

Warning: The following article contains spoilers for the sixth season of Arrow.

Arrow is poised to lose yet another original cast member in its season six finale… and it's going to be emotional, everybody.

The CW show is only a few months removed from losing Willa Holland as Oliver Queen's sister Thea, but will be saying goodbye to another fan favourite this Thursday - Star City policeman Quentin Lance.

Paul Blackthorne's character has been a moral compass for Oliver Queen throughout the loss (and resurrection) of both of his daughters, but his journey on Arrow will come to an end in the ominously-titled 'Life Sentence'.

In an interview with TVLine, Blackthorne initially described his Arrow departure as "interesting" before quickly offering a more effusive description.

"It's a beautiful exit, actually," he promised. "A very nice exit, as exits go."

He also hinted a closure for a season-long arc of Lance trying to make peace with the Black Siren, the evil doppleganger of his daughter Laurel - both of whom were played by Katie Cassidy.

"It was kind of a mind-screw, the whole thing, in terms of who she was, reconciling that new relationship, and him trying to find hope in her and everything that she had gone through and become," he said.

"All those scenes with Katie [Cassidy], it was a lot of fun. We've had six years of playing all that stuff, and it's been a real, real treat."

Arrow concludes its sixth season on Thursday at 9pm ET on The CW in the US. Sky1 airs the show in the UK.
