The Arrowverse Elsewworlds crossover is set to bring back John Wesley Shipp as the 1990s Flash.

Executive producer Marc Guggenheim took to Twitter yesterday (October 22) to share a first-look image of Shipp in his original Flash costume.

He tweeted: "After seven years, this just might be the coolest thing we've ever done... @JohnWesleyShipp."

Shipp played Barry Allen in the CBS series that lasted just for one year between 1990 and 1991, but in the new series he plays the father of Grant Gustin's Flash.

In another behind-the-scenes treat for fans, Gustin also shared a group shot, featuring Melissa Benoist as Supergirl, Stephen Amell as The Flash (yes, that's right), Shipp also as The Flash and Gustin as The Green Arrow.

Gustin wrote: "Not that this Arrow costume isn't incredibly comfortable, but I'm pretty jealous that @stephenamell is wearing my Flash suit in a picture with @johnwesleyshippjr wearing his OG Flash suit. WHAT'S GOING ON!?"

It was announced earlier this month that the crossover event would shockingly be swapping the superhero roles of Gustin and Amell.

Amell, who plays Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, shared a new poster which sent everyone into a mad frenzy. It depicts him dressed in The Flash's suit, with Barry Allen himself Grant Gustin clothed in Oliver's superhero gear.

The shocking poster teases, 'Destiny will be rewritten' – and Amell captioned his post: "My name is Barry Allen and I am the fastest man alive."

The crossover starts with The Flash on Sunday, December 9 at 8pm ET, followed by Arrow on Monday, December 10 at 8pm ET and Supergirl on Tuesday, December 11 at 8pm ET, all on The CW in the US. Sky1 airs all three series in the UK.
