Arsenal And Aston Villa Battle For Cup

Thousands of fans of Arsenal and Aston Villa will descend on Wembley Stadium later as their teams bid to win the FA Cup Final.

The Gunners are favourites with the bookmakers and will be hoping to repeat last season's win against Hull which ended a nine-year wait for silverware.

They won 3-2 having fallen 2-0 behind within eight minutes.

Aston Villa last won the FA Cup 58 years ago when they beat Manchester United 2-1 at Wembley.

The underdogs again, they will be hoping their situation as outsiders sees them surge to victory again.

One high-profile Villa fan, the Duke of Cambridge, will be at the match in his role as FA president, and will present the trophy to the winning side. He has confessed to be "nervous".

Another Villa supporter, Prime Minister David Cameron, will not be at the match.

Downing Street said said: "The Prime Minister won't be in the crowd for the FA Cup final. He has a long-standing private engagement."

Mr Cameron's professed love for the Midlands club was called into question when he expressed support for West Ham United - who also play in claret and blue - during a general election speech in April.

He later blamed the blunder on a "brain fade", though critics noted he had previously told the House of Commons he was not a football fan.

Arsenal are 4/7 favourites, with Villa 6/1, with William Hill.

The match kicks off at 5.30pm.
