Arsenal to face CSKA Moscow in Europa League quarter-final after beating AC Milan

Arsenal have been drawn against CSKA Moscow in the Europa League quarter-finals.

The Gunners will play the first leg at Emirates Stadium on April 5 with the return game a week later in the Russian capital.

The competition has become Arsene Wenger’s side’s best chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League but they now face a 3,108-mile round trip for the second leg as the Frenchman chases his first European trophy.

While Arsenal booked their place in the last eight with a 5-1 aggregate win over AC Milan last night, CSKA Moscow overturned a 1-0 first leg defeat at home to Lyon by winning 3-2 at the Groupama Stadium having dropped down from the Champions League.

They were in the same group as Manchester United but finished behind in third place behind Jose Mourinho’s side and Basel on nine points. The Europa League Final will be played on May 16 in Lyon.
