Arsenal fined £20,000 by FA for penalty protest vs Leicester City

Arsenal have been fined £20,000 by the Football Association for their players' protests over a penalty awarded to Leicester City in their 3-1 loss to the Foxes.

The FA has imposed the sanction, after Arsenal's players surrounded referee Graham Scott in the May 9 Premier League clash.

Jamie Vardy converted the 76th-minute penalty en route to Leicester's King Power Stadium victory.

"Arsenal have been fined £20,000 after failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 75th minute against Leicester City on 9 May 2018," read an FA statement.

"Arsenal admitted the charge but did not accept the standard penalty. An Independent Regulatory Commission subsequently ruled that the circumstances were not truly exceptional and the fine was applied."

Leicester's first Premier League win over Arsenal since 1994 left the Gunners frustrated, in Arsene Wenger's penultimate game in charge. It was Arsenal's seventh consecutive top-flight away defeat.

Kelechi Iheanacho and Riyad Mahrez struck to add to Vardy's penalty, while Arsenal had Konstantinos Mavropanos sent off after just 15 minutes with Patrick Aubameyang claiming their only goal.
