Arsene Wenger had to deal with his fair share of pressure during 22 years in the Arsenal hot seat but few tasks were ever as keenly observed as the Frenchman’s struggles with his coat.

Wenger’s long winter jacket – and particularly its associated zip – became the stuff of GIF legends over the years as time and time again the Frenchman was tormented by his inability to consistently and swiftly do up his coat.

Unsurprisingly Wenger’s difficulties with his attire only grew as he became increasingly aware of the attention being paid to such a mundane task.

He told beIN Sports: “I was conscious of that! They [the coats] are too long and sometimes the zip didn’t work. I struggled a lot with that.

“But, in the end, because people were showing it I was conscious that I was under scrutiny when doing it!”

At least Wenger has no such problems this winter as he mulls his next steps in football following his Arsenal departure last summer.
