Arsenal’s controlling shareholder Stan Kroenke donated $1 million to Donald Trump’s inauguration fund in the latest link between the US President and the club, it has emerged.

Official disclosures revealed the contribution by the 69 year old Missouri based billionaire to the celebrations marking the start of Mr Trump’s Presidency.

They came days after Mr Trump’s 11 year old son Barron was pictured apparently wearing a full Arsenal strip on the south lawn of the White House during Monday’s traditional Easter Egg Roll.

It is thought he wore the Gunners strip for a visit by team members of US MLS team DC United to the President’s official residence for a kick-around with youngsters.

Twitter users speculated that Barron’s choice of strip could be related to Mr Trump’s friendship with broadcaster Piers Morgan, a well known Arsenal fan.

Mr Kroenke, who owns two thirds of the north London club, was one of a number of English football club owners who stumped up for the inauguration in January.

Manchester United director Joel Glazer contributed $250,000, while Fulham owner Shahid Khan gave $1 million.
