Arsenal Star Charged With Dangerous Driving

Arsenal defender Andre Santos has been charged with dangerous driving after he was allegedly caught speeding at 130mph last month.

The footballer, from Sao Paulo in Brazil, was arrested on August 17 for driving erratically in a Maserati near the club's training ground.

Santos is believed to have sped away from chasing police and was picked up by officers near London Colney in Hertfordshire where Arsenal hold their first team training sessions.

He answered police bail on Wednesday and was charged with dangerous driving and driving without due care and attention, Scotland Yard said.

The 29-year-old, of Church Mount, Barnet, north London, will appear at Hendon Magistrates' Court on September 27.

He could be jailed for up to two years if the case goes to crown court and he is convicted.
