Arsenal playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been named Armenian Footballer of the Year for the seventh time in a row.

Mkhitaryan may have spent much of 2017 on the Manchester United sidelines, joining Arsenal in January 2018, but it did not stop the Armenia captain and record goalscorer claiming a landslide win.

Varazdat Haroyan, a centre-back with Russian side Ural Yekaterinburg, placed third with 30 points whilst Tigran Barseghyan, who plays in midfield for Macedonian side FK Vardar, earned 35 points. Mkhitaryan won the prize with 190.

“It is a great honour because it means you've achieved something,” Mkhitaryan said. “You've accomplished something important for the country and your followers. I am very happy to be the children's hero.
