Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey have handed Arsenal head coach Unai Emery a welcome boost by returning to full training.

Ozil had been struggling with a back injury that ruled him out of Arsenal’s last three Premier League games while Ramsey missed the win over Huddersfield on Saturday with an ankle problem.

Both Ozil and Ramsey will be available for Thursday’s Europa League clash against Qarabag at Emirates Stadium though the pair are unlikely to feature in what amounts to a dead rubber for the Gunners, who are guaranteed to top Group E.

Emery added youngsters including Bukayo Saka, Charlie Gilmour, Tyreece John-Jules and Joe Willock to his squad and is expected to hand starts to several fringe players.

Shkodran Mustafi, banned for Sunday’s visit to Southampton, will have his hamstring injury assessed ahead of the visit of Qarabag. His fellow centre-back Rob Holding will undergo surgery on the injury to the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee this week.
