Bayern Munich have confirmed their interest in Arsenal target Leon Goretzka.

The Schalke midfielder has attracted interest from across Europe in recent years, with Liverpool and Manchester United also reportedly keen on the Germany international.

The 22-year-old is out of contract in Gelsenkirchen at the end of the season, and is free to negotiate a contract with clubs outside of the Bundesliga as of New Year’s Day, only fuelling rumours of a Premier League exit.

However, after having been repeatedly linked with a move to the Allianz Arena, the German giants have confirmed their interest.

"Leon Goretzka is a great player, that's clear," Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic said via the club's official Twitter account.

"He is a Schalke player and we obviously respect that. But he is a Germany international and we can say that we are interested in him."

Despite missing spells of this season through injury, the 12-cap international has bagged four goals and an assist in 12 games so far.
