Mikel Arteta has confessed Arsenal are looking at resolving their goalkeeping situation during the current transfer window.

Arsenal signed Alex Runarsson during the summer after paying around £1million to bring him in from French club Dijon.

They failed, however, to sign Brentford goalkeeper David Raya and ended up selling Emi Martinez to Aston Villa for £20m.

That left Arsenal with Bernd Leno, Runarsson and Matt Macey as their three goalkeepers - but the latter has left for Hibernian.

Runarsson has also struggled this season, particularly in the Carabao Cup defeat to Manchester City, and Arteta refused to rule out him leaving on loan.

“There is nothing there yet,” said the Spaniard, when quizzed on the matter on Monday.

Either way, Arsenal are looking to resolve their goalkeeper situation this month during the transfer window.

“We are assessing the situation with the three positions on the goalkeeping area and we will find a different solution, probably in this window,” Arteta said.

"We are assessing what is going to happen with the three positions, the discussion we had in the summer within the club are a little bit different to what actually happened because of the transfer window and the situation that developed with Emi.

“We didn’t have much time to do what we really wanted to do and we decided to assess the situation in this window which is what we are trying to do and we will make a decision on how we want to move forward in those three positions."
