Arsene Wenger hints at next job in management after Arsenal exit

Arsene Wenger has dropped the clearest hint yet that he will remain in management next season.

The 68-year-old will end his 22-year Arsenal reign at the end of the season after his departure was announced in a statement on the club’s official website on Friday morning.

“Honestly, I don’t know what I will do,” he said. “Will I take a little rest? I will continue to work, that’s for sure. My pride has always been to give my best to where I’m employed until the last day of my contract. At the moment, I’m just focused on that.”

The Gunners face the first leg of their Europa League semi-final against Atletico Madrid at Emirates Stadium with Wenger needing to win the competition to land his first European trophy and secure Arsenal’s spot in the Champions League for next season.

“Is there a perfect goodbye? First of all, I don’t know,” he said. “I just want to do as well as I can because this team has quality, these guys - I’ve seen them this season be challenged mentally. I’ve always seen them respond in a positive way and I think this group of players deserves something special.

“I want to do it for them, to achieve something with them because I feel they have a special mental quality.

"My biggest satisfaction would be to be successful together with the group of players that I have. I’ve seen them behave the whole season and they deserve it.”
