Arsene Wenger says Arsenal do not have to sell their best players anymore amid Chelsea interest in Alexis Sanchez

Arsene Wenger believes Alexis Sanchez wants to stay at Arsenal despite Chelsea transfer links

Arsene Wenger joked there’s ‘only one team in London’ when he was quizzed on Chelsea’s interest in Alexis Sanchez.

Standard Sport reported earlier this week that Arsenal will demand £50million for the Chile international this summer should he fail to agree a new contract, with their West London one of the club’s interested.

But when asked by the press Thursday morning, the Arsenal boss insisted the Chilean’s future was not an ‘immediate concern’ for the club.

“It had to happen before when we had to sell our best players,” Wenger told reporters. “That's not the case anymore. He has one and a half year contract. It's not an immediate concern for Arsenal Football Club."

Sanchez last night said that he was happy in London and planned to ‘finish my contract’ at the club, but Wenger played down the significance of his player’s comments.

“We have as well to be very cautious when people give interviews in their own home country. I don't see anything negative in that, he said he wants to win the championship. Everyone wants that."
