Art Fans Book Up 'Van Gogh Bedroom' On Airbnb

Art lovers are flocking to spend a night in a replica of Vincent Van Gogh's bedroom that is up for rental on Airbnb for just $10.

The Art Institute of Chicago has decorated a one-bedroom apartment to look like Van Gogh's painting of his bedroom in Arles, south of France.

All available dates in February have already been snapped up for the room in the Illinois city’s River North neighbourhood.

"This is so perfect I'm literally crying," art student Genevieve Marie Gualtiere wrote on the museum's Facebook page.

"Staying here would be my dream! I need it."

The room has been listed on Airbnb as if the artist himself were renting it for cash to buy paint.

A group of local artists helped to recreate in painstaking detail the simple furniture and vivid colours of Van Gogh's The Bedroom.

Renters also will get tickets to the Art Institute's Van Gogh's Bedrooms exhibition, which runs from Sunday until 10 May.
