As royal families go, the British set aren’t exactly the hunkiest around. As William’s hair fades further into distant memory, you can look to Sweden and Monaco for the princes and princesses worthy of a pin-up.

But one young royal is turning the tide. Enter 22-year-old Arthur Chatto, son of Lady Sarah Chatto, grandson of Princess Margaret and 29th in line to the throne. Chatto first made headlines at Meghan and Harry’s 2018 wedding where he (nearly) stole the show on account of his dashing looks.

And now, the Queen’s great-nephew is in the limelight again after it was announced he had been accepted to train as an officer in the Royal Marines – and will be the first in the family to do so since Prince Edward in 1986, who dropped out after four months of the intensive training course. “He told the Queen all about it and she’s pleased and proud,” an insider recently reported. “Arthur has even been going off into the wilds at Balmoral with all his kit and camping out as he prepares for the commando training.”

It may come as no surprise that the youngest Chatto has joined the physically gruelling regime; whilst studying geography at University of Edinburgh, he managed to juggle his time as both student and personal trainer at the BoundFitness gym, specialising in ‘strength and endurance training with a military focus.’

The prep doesn’t end there: last summer Chatto and three friends completed the 2000 mile GB Row Challenge, raising money for Just One Ocean and the British Red Cross, whilst during his time at Eton he was in the Combined Cadet Force which teaches pupils various military skills. He’s also apparently a fan of mountain climbing and Arctic diving (because why not?).

Ok, so we know he’s, ahem, fit enough for the job. Time for the question on everyone’s lips: is the UK’s most eligible bachelor actually single? Answer: no. At least we don’t think so. Arthur went public on his Instagram with his girlfriend Lizzie Friend back in 2018 – and reports suggest the two are still together. Friend, a fellow student at the University of Edinburgh, was there to greet him at the finish line at his Row Challenge last year, and has accompanied him to Royal Ascot as his date.

Unfortunately for admirers of the young royal, glimpses into his private life will be few and far between from now on. His Instagram @artchatto - where he regularly posted hunky topless photos and training pictures – has now been deleted, meaning fans of Chatto will have to make do with waiting for his inevitable Marines snaps to be shared. In the meantime, content yourself with the photos that do exist – and hope that he won’t be losing his hair any time soon.
