Artist left dangling naked from tree for three hours after rope installation goes wrong

A London-based artist was left dangling naked from a tree for three-and-a-half hours after her installation unexpectedly went wrong.

Hilde Krohn Huse had intended to film herself hanging in the nude from a rope in a Norwegian forest as part of a contemporary project.

But, after deciding to stop the camera rolling, she realised she was actually stuck.

She struggled to free herself from the rope, before a friend eventually heard her screaming for help and she was saved.

Huse, who is Norwegian but now lives and works in London, filmed the clip during her final year at the University of Creative Arts.

Incredibly, an edited version has now been chosen to be shown in the Bloomberg New Contemporary exhibition, reports The Local.

Judges said the feeling of helplessness in the clip is the key to its power.

“In the film ‘Hanging in the Woods’, the viewer can witness the breakdown between performance and reality as the intended performance goes wrong and the performer is stuck hanging from the tree without being able to free herself or having any visible means of help or escape,” says the clip’s description.
