An astute Asda shopper has cleverly saved an impressive £40 on his grocery bill by taking advantage of 'Asda Rewards' tags spotted during his routine shop.

The savvy customer, who regularly shops at the Sheffield branch, noticed these promotional labels and was prompted to download the Asda app. This application incentivises customers to purchase selected items in exchange for cashback, which can then be transformed into vouchers for future shopping trips, potentially adding up to significant savings, reports the Express.

Certain items can return as much as 10 per cent of their value back into a shopper's Asda Rewards account, while 'Super Stars' products offer even greater returns, enabling him to amass a substantial discount voucher swiftly.

The shopper explained: "After I downloaded the app I noticed the 'Star Products' labels on various shelves. Sometimes they were hidden, for example an 'out of stock' label might be covering up a product label if it hadn't been changed by a member of staff."

"Other times, I'd be stood weighing up whether to buy one product or the other when I would check the app and realise that one of them was offering credit back on the purchase."

"For instance I was trying to buy some cola cans and they had £2.50 back on Coke Zero, but weren't offering anything on Pepsi despite being a similar price per can. So I ditched the Pepsi and bought just under £30 worth of Coke Zero, which instantly gave me £7.50 in my wallet."

A clever bargain hunter shared his secret to slashing his Asda grocery bill from £52 down to a mere £12.98, in what has become the latest viral sensation for money-saving enthusiasts. The man used Asda's Rewards Top Picks scheme to tremendous effect, earning instant cash back on selected items.

He went on to say: "Of course it wouldn't be worth it if the product you switch to is more expensive, but where the price was the same for the same size, I followed the 'rewards' labels on the shelves. In the space of about two or three big shops I had £40 to spend in store."

After accumulating £40 in-store credit, he converted this into a voucher via the app, which he then applied at checkout. This dramatically reduced his £52 shop to just £12.98.

The thrifty shopper added: "I'm already back up to £5.50 on the app. It's more generous than other supermarkets, and I get another 1% cashback by paying on a Chase card."

As part of their promotional push, Asda's Rewards Scheme boasts: "Explore 100's of Star Products and start earning today. Purchase any of our Star Products and you'll receive an instant Cashpot boost equivalent to 10% of the product's price. Super Stars give you even more! ".

It's important to note that not all deals may represent true savings. Sometimes these products can be found cheaper elsewhere or the prices may have increased.

Thereby, purchasing items with app cashback isn't always the most frugal choice.
