Yahoo News Asda store closed after man in his twenties is stabbed in the back
A branch of Asda in Yorkshire was forced to close this morning after a man was stabbed in the back with a screwdriver.
The victim, who is said to be in his 20s, was also slashed in the face during the incident, that took place outside the 24-hour superstore in Mill Street West, Dewsbury.
Bosses closed the store while they assisted with police enquiries.
A man has since been arrested in connection with the incident.
West Yorkshire Police said they were called to the shop by paramedics at 4.47am this morning.
The force added: “Officers attended and a male, aged in his 20s, was found with a stab wound to his back and lacerations to his face. He has been taken to hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.
“A man has been arrested on suspicion of s18 assault and remains in police custody.
“Enquiries are ongoing in the Mill Street West area to establish the circumstances and there will be an increased policing presence in the area.”

An Asda spokesman added: “Our Dewsbury store is currently closed whilst we assist police with their inquiries following an incident this morning.
“We would like to thank our colleagues for their quick thinking to call the authorities and our customers for their understanding during this time.”
