Ashley Walters has revealed he was stabbed and “left for dead” by white racists at the age of 15.

Through tears, Walters recalled the incident in a video on Instagram, after commenters slammed him for not posting about the killing of George Floyd by US police.

“I’ve spent the evening in my feelings and my thoughts about this George Floyd situation,” the Bulletproof actor said. “My point of coming on here today is that no one can tell me I am complicit. I haven’t posted anything about the scenario for several reasons, but for the main one, I’ve been posting this thing all of my f***ing career.”

He continued: “I’ve seen black people and big corporations posting ‘Your silence is a betrayal’. Don’t ever f***ing tell me that my silence is a f***ing betrayal when I’ve been left for dead on the street by white men. Stabbed and left for dead and these people have never been brought to justice.

“I f***ing worked hard, put my life on the line for all these f***ing men out here while this s*** has been going on. I said nothing, but I’m talking now. I’m talking now because I’ve had enough of this s***. People are being killed out here and treating us like s*** and all anyone can complain about is who’s posting about it.”

Walters’ Bulletproof co-star Noel Clarke tweeted earlier this week (29 May) that racism is “embedded” in the UK and the UK’s film industry. He also claimed that he had been deliberately left off the poster for the 2019 comedy film Fisherman’s Friends.
