Actor Ashley Walters was stopped at Heathrow airport after security spotted a ‘bullet’ on him, that turned out to be a key ring he’d been given on the set of his latest TV series Bulletproof.

‘So I’ve been stopped at @HeathrowAirport terminal 5 security because I have a key ring resembling a bullet. I was two hours early and now I may miss my flight. Joke ting. Come on @HeathrowAirport #BULLETPROOF,’ he explained to his 111,000 Twitter followers, after the star appeared annoyed at being held up when he arrived for his flight in plenty of time.

He then called out one newspaper for their inflammatory headline that implied he was in possession of a bullet.

‘It was a harmless BULLET key ring given to me by my colleagues when we wrapped on our new show BULLET PROOF , a cop drama for @SkyOne. I see you @MirrorCeleb,’ he captioned a screengrab of their suggestive headline.

The former So Soild Crew singer and Top Boy star has been spending time up north in Liverpool while filming his latest show alongside a number of other British acting names.

Walters has been acting since 1997, when he first appeared on the small screen as recurring character Andy Phillips on BBC’s Grange Hill. Since then, he’s appeared in London’s Burning, The Bill, movies Get Rich or Die Tryin’, Speed Racer, and Anuvahood.

His latest show is now in post-production and is about two police officers chasing criminals around the East End – Bishop (Noel Clarke) and Pike (Walters) – who, despite appearing similar on the exterior, have very different upbringings and backgrounds outside of work.

Bulletproof stars Walters, alongside Jason Maza, David Elliot, and Clarke. It will air on Sky One later in the year.
