Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of 19-year-old defender Ethan Amundsen-Day.

The Norwegian youth international joins Villa for an undisclosed fee from FC Copenhagen. Amundsen-Day spent the last three seasons with the Danish giants having started his career with Fredrikstad FK in Norway.

The move sees him return to his birth country, as the teenager was born to an English father and Norwegian mother in Leeds. Amundsen-Day made 50 appearances at Under-19s level, displaying proficiency at left-back and centre-back.

Mark Harrison, Villa's academy manager, said: “We are delighted that Ethan is joining us. He is a player who has a great mentality and is technically very efficient.

“He will add more depth to our squads in preparation for the different competitions we will compete in at Under-21 level and we look forward to working with him over the next few seasons.”

Meanwhile, Villa are in advanced talks with Everton over selling midfielder Tim Iroegbunam. The 20-year-old made nine appearances for Villa in the Premier League last season.
