Aston Villa are reportedly keeping tabs on Gent full-back Archie Brown.

The 22-year-old came through the youth ranks at Derby County, before leaving the club in 2021 for Switzerland with Lausanne. He only joined Belgian giants Gent last summer, but after an impressive campaign under Hein Vanhaezebrouck, he is attracting interest from a number of clubs.

The Mirror claim Villa are among several Premier League sides who are interested in the left-back. His form across the season was rewarded last week with a first international call up when he was selected for England’s Elite League Squad, formerly the Under-20s.

Chelsea, West Ham and Crystal Palace are also said to be following Brown's progress closely. Gent want a transfer fee of around £15m to part with the full-back after just one season at the club.

Brown has made 31 Pro League appearances this season and a further six in the Europa Conference League. He began his career as a left winger but has impressed since switching to left-back at Lausanne.

"Not to sound generic, but I just want to be the best version of myself as I can - if I can continue to be a student of the game, respect the game and try to reach the highest level I can possible, we'll see where that takes me," Brown told Sky Sports.

"It might take me back to England and the Premier League, but it may take me somewhere in Europe. My aspiration is to play at the highest level possible, to play in the Champions League and compete for league titles.

"I know I have the ability, I know what's going on inside my mind - I just need to keep respecting the game and see where takes me."
