Aston Villa are reportedly keen on signing Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid in the January transfer window.

Villa have made a strong start to the season, ad Unai Emery’s side are up to 5th after Saturday’s (September 30) impressive 6-1 win over Brighton at Villa Park.

Ollie Watkins scored a hat-trick with England manager Gareth Southgate in attendance as Villa made it five wins from their first seven league games.

After another busy summer window, in which Emery and Monchi brought in the likes of Pau Torres, Nicolò Zaniolo and Moussa Diaby, fans will be confident Villa have a squad that can challenge the top 6 this season. There’s an expectation the squad could need to be strengthened in January with the likes of Tyrone Mings and Emi Buendia suffering injuries, and according to reports in Spain, former Arsenal star Ceballos is on Emery’s radar.

27-year-old Ceballos could be available for a fee of around €18 million, with Madrid unlikely to stand in his way if he wants to leave the club.

The reports (via Four Four Two) claim Villa will be prepared to offer big money for the Spanish international.
