Aston Villa winger Samuel Iling-Junior has joined Bologna on loan.

The 20-year-old signed for Villa back in June from Juventus alongside Enzo Barrenechea in a deal worth a combined £18.75m. Douglas Luiz headed the other way for £42m, which put Villa in the clear regarding the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR)

Iling-Junior will play Champions League football at Bologna after the Serie A side finished fifth last season. Former Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Italiano was appointed as Thiago Motta's replacement earlier this summer.

Iling-Junior was keen to leave Villa on loan this summer given the competition in his position in the Villa squad. Jacob Ramsey, Morgan Rogers, Jaden Philogene, Emi Buendia and John McGinn are all options for Unai Emery.

Lewis Dobbin, who also joined Villa back in June, left on loan earlier this summer too. He is playing in the Championship for the season with promotion hopefuls West Bromwich Albion.

The summer transfer window shuts at 11pm on Friday, a day after Villa find out who they'll play in the Champions League and before they face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.
