Ollie Watkins has been an incredible signing for Aston Villa having helped spearhead their charge to the Champions League.

But for all of his goalscoring exploits and as is the case for a lot of players, there are some grounds when it just doesn't seem to click.

And the England forward, currently away with the Three Lions, has been speaking about Newcastle United's St James' Park as a stadium that he has always found difficult.

And it is with good reason too. Watkins is yet to win on Tyneside with his previous two visits culminating in 5-1 and 4-0 defeats. When Villa lost 1-0 back in February 2022, he also saw an equaliser ruled out for offside.

Newcastle are reportedly considering extending the stadium not that it has particularly gone down well with Watkins.

Speaking on England’s official YouTube channel alongside Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson, Watkins said: “Newcastle, St James’ Park. I’ve had a stinker there every year, I think! You just look up at that one stand and it keeps going and going.

"I’ve heard they’re making another like that and I’m like ‘no, don’t’. Please don’t!”

Watkins will be hoping to play some part for England tonight as they look to make it through to the semi-finals of Euro 2024 when they face Switzerland tonight at 5pm.
