Unai Emery has confirmed John McGinn suffered a hamstring injury in Aston Villa's win over Wolves and will face a spell on the sidelines.

The Villa captain came off in the final minutes of the first half and was replaced by Leon Bailey for the second half. Villa play Wycombe Wanderers in the Carabao Cup and Ipswich Town in the Premier League next week, before they host Bayern Munich on October 2 and Manchester United four days later before the October international break.

Asked about McGinn's injury, Emery said: "It is his hamstring. When we arrived here, he had a hamstring injury against Tottenham in the January and today I think it is less than that injury. But he will be not available, I think, for a few weeks."
