The offer of a loan deal could be a way for Aston Villa to tempt midfielder Carlos Soler to Villa Park, it has been claimed.

Villa have been linked with the PSG man as they prepare for the opening of the summer transfer window next month. However, reports have suggested the player isn’t keen on leaving his current club.

According to Foot Mercato, Soler is “in no hurry” to move on, but a temporary switch could provide a potential “solution”. It would involve any loan team partially paying his salary.

Villa are said to have recently received “some information” regarding the 27-year-old’s availability as one of several teams to have “come forward”. Villarreal and Real Sociedad are also credited with an interest.

Soler has had a difficult couple of years in the French capital since his move from Valencia in 2022 for a reported £15 million. He racked up 24 league appearances during the season just gone, but reports suggested he was jeered when he played what could be his final home game for PSG.

The Spain international is under contract until 2027. It is said PSG are aware they will struggle to recoup the fee they shelled out for him.

Soler speaks very good English and has a fondness for Premier League football after watching it on Canal+ as he was growing up. Asked previously about a move to England, he said: "It’s all so mad, so physical, that if you can adapt to the intensity and then make the right decision, find the right space, that gives you something. Football is ever more physical but the player that ‘arrives’, that filters the final pass can adapt well: like Pablo Fornals, say.”
