Ayr's former former Odeon cinema has revealed the success story behind its opening six months of trading.
The Astoria in Burns Statue Square has sold 75,000 tickets, while 63,585 items have been scoffed including 19,410 popcorn portions and over 20 local jobs have been created.
The top five films so far have been Inside Out 2, Despicable Me 4, Deadpool & Wolverine, Kung Fu Panda 4 and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
The cinema re-opened under the new ownership of Merlin Cinemas back in March.
However, three months in, Merlin Cinemas has announced plans to convert ownership of their entire set-up to Employee Ownership Trust.

Since then, the Trust protected the interests of people who work in the company’s cinemas and restaurants.
The Trust has now announced that they are going to invest further in Astoria Cinema in 2025 to provide more screens.
Astoria said: “Thanks for all your incredible support, and stand by for future investment into 2025...including more screens to show more films and to give more choices.
“We're so honoured to be the ‘beacon of escapism’ in Burns Statue Square at this magnificent and historical cinema.”
