Many brands excel at capturing a beauty editor's attention, but most of the love affairs are little more than a short-lived fling. With an endless conveyor belt of products launching every year, it’s hard to convince a seasoned beauty expert to commit.

One brand that has settled seamlessly onto the shelves of those in the know, however, is Augustinus Bader.

Created by a professor of applied stem cell biology and cell technology (yes, really) this science-led line has garnered a cult following that most can only dream of, quickly becoming one of the most Googled beauty brands on the planet. A-listers fawned over the brand, which, at the time, offered just one product. Victoria Beckham even tapped the founder to co-create her own Power Serum and Priming Moisturiser.

While he may have found fame for his first and only product – aptly named The Cream – Bader now has his sights set on the rest of the industry, and this year will see more than one exciting (trust me) addition to the cult collection.

First to hit the shelves is The Cream Cleansing Gel: Bader’s first and only cleansing product.

"With this new product, our development process focused on helping your skin be at its best," said Professor Bader of the new launch. "It’s an innovative formula that effectively enhances the skin's ability to absorb Augustinus Bader products while strengthening the skin's natural defences and visibly improving the fundamental structure and health."

The light, milky gel is completely free from scent, and a cinch to remove with a little warm water. It boasts the same TFC8® complex as the brand’s face and body creams: a cocktail of amino acids and vitamins that delivers key nutrients straight to the cells that need them, boosting the skin’s ability to repair and renew itself. Playing the supporting roles are rose water, cucumber and aloe vera: a gentle, purifying trio that leaves the skin balanced and adequately hydrated, and ready to absorb any product you apply after (The Cream, if you’re really doing it right).
