Aussies Are Freaking Out Because Pippa Middleton Wore a Dress in Winter

Newlyweds Pippa Middleton and James Matthews recently touched down in Australia for part two of their luxe honeymoon. And while summer is just a few weeks away for those in the Northern Hemisphere, those Down Under are gearing up for winter, with June being one of the coldest months of the year.

So when the Duchess of Cambridge’s younger sister was spotted at the Sydney Harbor wearing nothing but a short summer dress from Kate Spade paired with espadrilles, locals were both baffled and amused that she braved 50-degree weather in such a light look.

The sight of Middleton without a coat in what Aussies are calling “freezing” weather (in reality, it was in the low 60s) made the local headlines on Wednesday. But of course the brisk air and light rain was nothing new to the British couple.

“The only thing more painful than the death of autumn (only 183 days until summer) was seeing Pippa Middleton wearing a summer dress, unfazed by the blistering cold,” wrote an Australian news outlet. “Like, the British have to rub their cold tolerance in,” they joked.

While the Aussies have lower tolerances for the cold than the Brits — and North Americans, too — it still seems a bit nippy for bare arms.

The couple have since travelled North of Sydney to Darwin where they will experience toasty 80 degree weather.

It’s nice that things are heating up for the loved-up couple.
