Austin Residents Celebrate Power Restoration After Rolling Blackouts Devastate Texas

Residents in Austin, Texas, celebrated the restoration of power to their apartment complex on Thursday, February 18, after hundreds of thousands of households were without electricity earlier in the week.

Footage shared by Dave Kemper shows residents at the Woods on Barton Skyway in Austin cheering and toasting to the good news on Thursday afternoon, almost 87 hours after their power had originally gone out, Kemper told Storyful.

Approximately 15,000 households were still without power as of Friday night, according to Austin Energy. Credit: Dave Kemper via Storyful
