Australian Government Minister Tested for Coronavirus After Coughing Fit During COVID-19 Speech

An Australian government minister was tested for COVID-19 after having a brief coughing fit while giving a speech in parliament about the country’s coronavirus response on May 12.

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg began coughing while bringing up the example of someone who had benefitted from the country’s wage-subsidy program.

After the parliamentary session it was announced that Frydenberg was being tested for COVID-19 out of “an abundance of caution.” The result of the test was expected to be delivered the following day. Credit: Australian Parliament via Storyful
