Australian Zoo Celebrates Koala Joey's First Birthday

An adorable koala joey was showered with love as she celebrated her first birthday at an Australian zoo.

This footage, filmed by the Australian Reptile Park, shows Pixie the koala receiving all the cuddles and pats she could want from zookeepers and visitors, as she munched on some eucalyptus leaves.

According to the zoo, Pixie’s mother fell ill in June 2021 prompting Australian Reptile Park Director, Tim Faulkner, to step into the role of surrogate parent to provide the young joey with round-the-clock care.

“It melts my heart to see Pixie thriving, considering the first time we met she was at risk of not making it," Faulkner said, "I look at her happy and healthy on her first birthday surrounded by everyone, enjoying all the attention and I get a bit emotional that she’s growing up!”.
