The Austrian government has announced that unvaccinated residents will be placed on lockdown beginning Monday, November 15.
According to Austrian news outlet Die Press, the measures will affect around two million people.
In this footage, streamed live by the federal chancellery, Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg announces his plan for the “lockdown of the unvaccinated” or “Lockdown für Ungeimpfte”. He was speaking after a meeting earlier with the governors of Austria’s nine provinces.
“The corona situation in Austria is serious,” said Schallenberg, according to a Google translation of remarks reported by Die Press. “We have to raise the vaccination quota, it’s shameful. Help us break this fourth wave, the only way is vaccination.”
