Authorities Monitor Santa Catarina River in Northeast Mexico

Officials in the northeastern state of Nuevo Leon, in Mexico, urged locals to avoid crossing flooded areas on Thursday, June 20, as heavy rain from Storm Alberto continued in the region.

Footage released by Nuevo Leon Civil Protection shows the Santa Catarina River rushing through the city of Cadereyta Jimenez on Thursday.

“Avoid crossing flooded areas such as rivers, fords and streams as you could be swept away by the current,” Nuevo Leon Civil Protection said.
