Authorities Work to Remove Pink Boat From London's Oxford Circus During Extinction Rebellion Protest

Authorities worked to remove a pink sailboat parked in London’s Oxford Circus during a climate change protest organized by the Extinction Rebellion group on April 19.

Protesters attached themselves to the boat in an effort to stop officials from removing it, according to reports.

Actor Emma Thompson joined Friday’s protest and read a “love letter” to Earth from aboard the pink boat, saying: “Gaia is us and we are Gaia.”

Extinction Rebellion was staging what it was described as a “international week of rebellion.” Protests were staged over several days in Europe, North America and Australia. On Tuesday, protesters blockaded Waterloo Bridge. Credit: @231Tally via Storyful
