Avengers 4 directors post cryptic set photo

Directing siblings the Russo Brothers have posted a teaser image from the set of their upcoming blockbuster Avengers 4 that may have given away a titbit about the new movie.

The sequel to this year's mega successful Infinity War is still over seven months away from release, but hardcore fans have been collating theories and speculation about what the next movie might offer.

Has the Russo's latest slice of social media activity given away their game?

Captioning it: "Look hard...", the filmmaking encouraged fans to go all Sherlock and look pretty closely for clues.

It looks like a standard movie set generally, with tools, constructions and Joe Russo himself populating the space.

But one Twitter user feels they may have got the whole thing sussed, replying with a very confident post – although this solution sadly offers nothing in terms of narrative hints.

"Four A's. A4 AVENGERS 4," they suggested.

Another follower appears to have spotted a rather cool Easter egg from a galaxy far, far away, claiming they saw Darth Vader in the corner.

The most stunning attempt to deconstruct this image – if not also stretching it a tad – notes that the words 'END GAME' is spelled out through a variety of items and pieces of furniture.

Nothing is actually certain by looking at this photo, but what we do know at least is that Jeremy Renner is returning to the fray after three years out of avenging.

Avengers: Infinity War is available to buy on Blu-ray, DVD or digital download. Avengers 4 will be released in the UK on April 26, 2019, and in the US on May 3, 2019.
