After weeks of hype, Avengers: Infinity War was finally unveiled to the world at its Los Angeles premiere.

The cast is a Who’s Who of British and US talent, and Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Zoe Saldana and Letitia Wright were happy to pose for pictures with fans, many of whom turned up in costume on Monday night.

Benedict Cumberbatch was joined by wife Sophie Hunter. Others stars at the event included Chadwick Boseman, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Tom Hiddleston and Danai Gurira.

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo recently revealed that they were forced to give British star Holland a fake script in order to prevent any spoilers.

Speaking to BBC Radio Scotland, Joe said: “Tom’s had a couple of slip ups in the past, he’s on the black list now.

“We wrote fake scripts, we wrote a really fake script for Tom Holland.”

He went on to explain that the cast have never read the entire script with the exception of Benedict Cumberbatch.

Discussing the unusual approach he explained: “They [the entire cast] were all kept in the dark. They trust us enough that they understand their motivations on set, we can give them enough of a hint as to where they’re coming from and where they’re going.

“A lot of it is relationship-based so it’s just about behaving truthfully when they’re on camera together and the objectives of each scene are contained in the scene.

Scarlett Johansson set tongues wagging last August over whether the rose tattoo on her back was real, but the actress, 33, who plays Black Widow, happily displayed it at last night’s premiere.
