How to avoid Star Wars: The Last Jedi spoilers

Star Wars: The Last Jedi reaches cinemas within the week, but already some people outside of LucasFilm have witnessed the Skywalker saga sequel.

As a result, many people are going on social-media clampdown, hoping to prevent seeing any spoilers about the upcoming eighth episode.

So, how can you avoid seeing anything about the blockbuster before heading to cinemas? Here are some tips.

Avoid the TV spots

While the first two trailers for The Last Jedi were great and offered very little substance regarding story, the more recent TV spots are showing more and more snippets from the movie. Try and resist!

Mute keywords on Twitter

One of the key features on the social media service, you can mute keywords by heading into your account setting and dropping down to the “Muted words” section. Recommended words to mute include: Star Wars, Luke, Rey, Poe, Finn, Leia, Princess Leia, Skywalker, Kylo Ren, Jedi, The Last Jedi, Snoke, Porg… You get the picture.

Plugins

Probably the most helpful plug-in would be the Unspoiler one for Chrome and Safari that blocks everything you choose. This works across Facebook and Twitter, the former of which doesn’t have a mute function.

Leave social media

Just go one extra step and don’t go on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc for the next few days. How hard can that be? The LAst Jedi reaches UK cinemas 14 December.
